All About Angels & Adoration
When we think about Jesus, it’s easy to focus on His earthly ministry—healing the sick, feeding multitudes, and walking among us. But the Bible reveals that His majesty extends far beyond what we see in the Gospels. Jesus isn’t just a Savior; He’s the King of Kings, exalted above all creation.
Jesus and the Worship of Angels
The book of Hebrews provides a striking glimpse into Jesus’ divine authority. In Hebrews 1:6-10, we read:
"And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,“Let all God’s angels worship him.” In speaking of the angels he says,“He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” But about the Son he says, Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” He also says, In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.”
These verses underscore the unparalleled supremacy of Jesus. Angels—mighty spiritual beings created to serve and worship God—bow in reverence before Him. Their worship is a powerful declaration that Jesus is not only Savior but also the sovereign Lord of all creation.
The Majesty That Commands Worship
Jesus' authority is affirmed throughout Scripture. In Philippians 2:10-11, we see a prophetic vision of universal adoration:
"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
This passage reminds us that Jesus’ name carries the power to command submission from all creation—whether angelic beings in heaven, humans on earth, or even the forces of darkness.
Light Shining in the Darkness
Not only do angels bow before Jesus, but His light also triumphs over the forces of evil. John 1:5 beautifully captures this:
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Jesus’ light dispels spiritual darkness, bringing hope, salvation, and clarity. Just as the angels recognize His power, the darkness must give way to His presence.
Created for His Glory
In Colossians 1:16-17, we are reminded of Jesus' role in creation:
"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
These verses affirm that Jesus is central to everything—creation exists because of Him, through Him, and for His glory.
Worship Him
The picture painted in these Scriptures invites us to join the heavenly host in worshiping Jesus. If angels—pure, powerful beings—bow in awe of Him, how much more should we?
Let’s not wait for eternity to acknowledge His majesty. Today, we can embrace the beauty of His light and the power of His name. As we worship, we align ourselves with the truth that Jesus is above all—worthy of adoration, exalted over all creation, and victorious over darkness.
Life-changing Reality
Jesus’ authority isn’t just a theological concept; it’s a life-changing reality. He commands the worship of angels, dispels darkness, and holds all creation together. Every knee will bow to Him, and every tongue will confess His lordship.
As we reflect on His majesty, let the worship of angels inspire our own hearts to adore the King who reigns forever. He is worthy.
