  • Paul, originally known as Saul of Tarsus, was one of the most important figures in early Christianity. He was born around 5 AD in Tarsus, a city in modern-day Turkey, to a Jewish family. As a young man, Paul was highly educated in Jewish law and tradition, studying under a well-known teacher named Gamaliel. He was also a Roman citizen, which gave him certain privileges and rights, making him uniquely positioned in both Jewish and Roman cultures.

  • The Armor of God, described in Ephesians 6:10-18, is a metaphor for the spiritual protection and strength Christians receive from God. Each piece of the armor represents a different aspect of spiritual defense: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. These "armor" pieces equip believers to stand firm against evil forces and stay strong in their faith.

  • Every morning it is imperative to pray and put the armor on. In addition, putting on the Armor of God means daily living out the spiritual truths each piece represents. For example, putting on the belt of truth means committing to honesty and aligning yourself with God's truth. The shield of faith involves trusting God even in tough times. Through prayer, reading Scripture, and applying its lessons, believers equip themselves with the armor to face spiritual battles.

  • The Armor of God is essential because Christians face spiritual warfare daily. It's not a physical battle but a struggle against temptation, doubt, and evil influences. The armor helps believers stay strong, stand firm in their faith, and resist the enemy's attacks. Without it, Christians are vulnerable to the spiritual forces that work against God's purposes.

  • "Spiritual wickedness in high places" refers to evil forces and demonic powers operating in the unseen, spiritual realm. These forces work against God's purposes and seek to influence people, systems, and cultures towards sin and rebellion. Understanding this helps believers recognize that their true battle is spiritual, not just physical or emotional.

  • Spiritual attacks often manifest as intense feelings of fear, doubt, confusion, or temptation. They may also include a sense of being overwhelmed or distant from God. Some people God may have gifted to be able to see them in various ways whether in dreams, visions or in real-time reality. Recognizing these as spiritual challenges is the first step, and using the armor of God—especially the sword of the Spirit (God’s Word)—helps you stand firm in faith.

  • Yes, the armor of God equips you to stand strong against all forms of spiritual attack. Each piece of armor represents a spiritual truth or discipline that strengthens your relationship with God, helping you overcome evil influences. While attacks may still come, God's protection ensures victory through faith, prayer, and His Word.

  • While God is all-powerful, He equips believers to actively participate in spiritual warfare. The armor of God is a way to exercise faith, grow in spiritual strength, and stay protected from the enemy's schemes. It’s part of God’s plan for us to live out our faith, resist temptation, and grow in Christ-like character.

Fortify Your Faith With The Full Armor of God

Breastplate of Righteousness

With the breastplate of righteousness in place. - Ephesians 6:14

A breastplate protects your heart. Righteousness means living the right way—following God’s commands and doing what’s right.

Proverbs 4:23 tell us, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." In 1 John 3:7 the Word of God also tells us, "Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous."

Belt of Truth

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. - Ephesians 6:14

The belt of truth represents honesty and knowing the truth about God. Just like a belt holds up your clothes, truth holds your life together. John 8:32 reminds us, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Shield of Faith

Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. - Ephesians 6:16

A shield protects you from attacks. Faith is trusting God, no matter what happens. It can block lies, doubts, and fears that the enemy throws at you. When you're afraid or unsure, trust that God is in control, and He will help you through it. Hebrews 11:1 states, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Proverbs 30:5 further tells us, "Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him."

Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

With your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. -Ephesians 6:15

Shoes help you walk and protect your feet. The Gospel (good news about Jesus) helps you stand firm and bring peace to others. Isaiah 52:7 tells us, "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news."

Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)

And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. -Ephesians 6:17

A sword is a weapon used to fight back. The Word of God (the Bible) is a spiritual weapon we use to fight against lies and temptations. When you're tempted to do something wrong, use Bible verses to remind yourself what’s right. Remember, Hebrews 4:12 tells us, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword." In Matthew 4:4, Jesus answered, 'It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'

Helmet of Salvation

Take the helmet of salvation. -Ephesians 6:17

A helmet protects your head, and your thoughts. Salvation means being saved by Jesus. When you put on the helmet of salvation, it reminds you that you belong to God and that Jesus saved you. Thessalonians 5:8 reminds us, "But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet." Furthermore Romans 12:2 reminds us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

PRAYER TO PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus, asking that You will cover me in the Full Armor of God. I put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace on my feet, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Protect me and guide me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

In Ephesians 6, Paul introduces the idea of "spiritual warfare"—a battle between good (God) and evil (Satan). He reminds believers that the fight they face is not against people, but against evil forces and spiritual darkness. He tells them to "put on the full armor of God" to be able to stand firm against these spiritual attacks.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.. -Ephesians 6:10-13

With the Armor of God, you are fully equipped to stand strong in your faith! Put on each piece every day, trust in God’s power, and stay connected through prayer. Remember, this battle is spiritual, but God has given you all the weapons you need to win.
